Gambrills, MD has a rapidly-growing population of 3,000 and is located in Anne Arundel County. The Gambrills area was named after Augustine Gambrill. Gambrill was the owner of a large plantation that originally occupied much of the space today known as Gambrills.
One of the most remarkable sites in Gambrills, MD is Rosehill. Rosehill is a gorgeous historic home composed of 17 acres of land, a house and six outbuildings. The home is an interesting mix of construction styles all built on a mid-18th-century frame. The style of the house is thought to be the first concrete example of this house style in the Chesapeake Bay area. The outbuildings range in age and include a corn house, tobacco barn, stable, pumphouse and more. The property was owned by the Hopkins family (of Johns Hopkins) for almost 175 years! It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the late 1980s.
Today, Gambrills remains a lovely historic town. It is well loved for its delicious restaurants, fun family entertainment options and convenient location for commuters to both Baltimore, MD and Washington, D.C.
